I’ve listed some websites and books that you may find useful for learning more about the Talmud. Please contact me if there are any other resources that you think should be included here, or if any of the links on this page are broken.


Some of the websites I have listed below give more detail about the Talmud, others are sites where you can begin to read the Talmud. I have also included some of the best known sites dedicated to academic study of the Talmud.


  • A Page from the Babylonian Talmud
    An interactive page of the Talmud describing all the elements printed on the page
  • Printing the Talmud
    A detailed and beautifully presented website constructed to accompany the Printing the Talmud Exhibition at the Yeshiva University Museum in New York.
  • 13th Century Talmud
    A rare manuscript in the British Library's collection. This manuscript is one of the few which survived the period when Talmud burnings were rife.


  • Vilna Edition of the Talmud
    A full, searchable, online copy of the classic Vilna edition of the Talmud (in Hebrew).
  • Soncino English Talmud
    A downloadable, English translation of the Talmud.
  • Daf Yomi
    A great resource if you take part in, or are thinking of joining, the Daf Yomi programme of studying one page of Talmud a day.
  • Talmud for Beginners
    An free, online, video course presented by a rabbi from the Chabad movement.
  • Webshas
    An online index to the Talmud. You can search topics by category or by alphabetical list.
  • The Society for the Interpretation of the Talmud
    An ongoing project, creating a scholarly commentary on the Talmud that aims to address a wide reading audience.
